YouTube Shorts maker
Make YouTube Shorts from a long video and post them to your channel
A Short is a vertical video of up to 3 minutes with a title, tags and a thumbnail. Canviz cuts those clips from a longer video, drafts the title with #Shorts and the search tags, and publishes to your connected channel at the time you pick.

YouTube Shorts maker, step by step
- 1
Add a long video
Paste a YouTube link or upload an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV up to 1 GB, from 3 minutes to 6 hours. Canviz transcribes it, scores every moment and cuts clips on sentence boundaries.
- 2
Keep the clips under 3 minutes
YouTube shows vertical videos of up to 3 minutes as Shorts. Clips come out 9:16 by default; leave the length on Auto or pick a band, such as 30–60 s.
- 3
Check the title, tags and settings
Each clip comes with a suggested title that includes #Shorts, and search tags. Set visibility, the made-for-kids answer and any disclosures once, and save them as channel defaults.
- 4
Pick a thumbnail and schedule
Choose a frame or upload a cropped image. Approve the clip and it goes on the calendar; Canviz publishes it to your channel through the YouTube API at the scheduled time.
What comes out, and what you control
Vertical and under 3 minutes
Clips come out 9:16 and are cut on sentence boundaries. YouTube shows vertical videos of up to 3 minutes as Shorts, and Canviz adds #Shorts to the suggested title.
Title and tags drafted
Each clip gets a YouTube title, up to 100 characters, and search tags, up to 500 characters in total. Edit either before the post goes out.
Visibility and disclosures
Public, Unlisted or Private. Answer made for kids, disclose altered or synthetic content and flag paid promotion. Save the answers as channel defaults.
A thumbnail you choose
Any frame of the clip in 0.1-second steps, or an uploaded, cropped image. It applies to search, the watch page and embeds. Custom thumbnails need a verified channel.
Published to your channel
Approved clips go on a week or month calendar and post through the YouTube API at your posting slots, 18:00 by default, or a time you pick. No tab needs to be open.
